Pyra, meet your little brother!

A few days after Pyra's birthday, she was ready to start school, and was happy to be sleeping in a big bed.
She dreamed of the baby that would be arriving any day now.
While Py slept, Chris made us some hot dogs with the grill that I had found at the dump. The horrible little gnome that I had found in a pile of scrap was WATCHING him! It had WALKED over to the counter, and was looking at Chris!
Chris continued cooking. He didn't seem bothered by the gnome's ever-looming presence.
"How dare you try to hurt Christopher! Take that! HI-YA!" I yelled as I kicked the creepy little gnome. I almost wished that I had never found him.
"It'll be ok baby. That gnome won't dare hurt a Rhymes resident." Chris said, smooching me. I love how calm, cool and collected he can be.
"MOM! I'm up and I heard you worrying about that gnome. I think it's watching us. But lets play tag! maybe once it sees how fast we are, it won't try to get us anymore!" Pyra chirped, hyper from her nap. "Ok honey." I said, laughing.
"Tag! Yur it!" Pyra cried as she "tagged" me.
"Tag! Now you're it, Py!" I said as I tagged her shoulder. "How- how's the b-baby?" Pyra huffed. panting.
"Would you like to feel it?" I asked "I can feel it move in there!" Pyra exclaimed in wonderment.
"I love you mommy." Pyra said, giving me a hug. "I love you too Pyra." I replied.
"Vita Alto is sooo mean! If she asks you to come inside her house, don't let her!" I told Pyra. It was true, even in her old age, Vita could still pack a punch.
"At least Vita's toilet isn't filthy!" Pyra complained.
So I cleaned the toilet. It did need to be cleaned.
She still had a low painting skill, but was getting better.
Pyra and I, side by side, two artists at work.
My sculpture was coming along nicely. I was making a toy box for Pyra and the baby because we couldn't afford to buy one.
"Hey mom, you know how I'm getting to be such a good drawer? Well do ya think maybe you could get me a bakers dozen stand? Like, as a reward?" Pyra asked me after she had worked on her painting for a while. "You are very good Pyra..."
"Pyra, I am going to have this kid soon, and I need you to promise me that you'll be a good big sister to it, and love it, and take care of it when you're a little older."
"Of course I will mommy! Babies are cute. How could I not like a baby sibling?"
"MOM? MOM! What's wrong? AHHHH!!!!!!!!!" Pyra shrieked like a harpy as I went into labor.
Kirgis Rhymes was born quickly, and without much fuss in the night. The nurses loved his sweet green eyes and cute little laugh.
Little Kirgis didn't cry once on the way home. I remember that when Pyra was born she would not stop screaming, The taxi driver had grumbled the whole ride home.
Pyra was asleep in her bed when we arrived home from the hospital.
Kirgis Rhymes. Clumsy and genius. It seems as if my clumsy trait spreads to my children! Both Pyra and Kirgis have it!
"I don't like this baby. He cries and wakes me up!" Pyra said the very first night, after Kirgy's screams had awoken her.
"Mom, I have to go to school today for the first time. Before I go, I have a question. Would it be possible to drop Kirgis so that he's stupid and can't go to school and embarrass me when he's older?" She asked. I was so shocked upon hearing this that it took me a minute to compose myself and answer.
I put on a false smile and said: "Oh Pyra. You're such a jokester! Of course we couldn't do that! Child services would come and take you, and Kirgis away!" She looked disappointed. "Oh." She said.
Kirgis looked so sweet lying in his cloudy crib. It was hard to believe that he was related to the wicked little Pyra. Of course, she had looked innocent as a baby too.
I had almost finished the sculpture that I had been working on. It was less distracting when she wasn't there, so I finished it in no time.
Christopher liked to read when Pyra wasn't there. She liked to bug her father when he was trying to get work done.
Pyra arriving home from school. The day had flown by, and I hated to admit it, but it had been much nicer without Pyra's constant complaining and shouting.
Pyra was a good student, she always did her homework.
Pyra had met a few friends at school.
"Yeah, I know right! He's soooo annoying! You're so lucky to be an only child" I heard Pyra speaking to her friend about Kirgis that way and it practically broke my heart.
"Hmm... what's in here?" Pyra dug through the toy box that i had made for her out of clay.
"Run little horsie, run!" She still enjoyed the kind of toys that she had played with as a toddler.
"That gnome scares the H.E-double-hockey sticks out of me! I swear that it moves." Pyra thought as she ate.
I wanna be a villain when I grow up.
I could make sooo much money!
From stealing diamonds!
That would be fun! And dangerous!
"MOM! DAD! Why do I have to sleep in the same room as that-that THING!" Pyra screamed in frustration as Kirgis's cries awoke her again. She stomped off, leaving Chris and I standing there, shocked that she could be so mean.
"Oh honey. It seems as if we never have time alone any more." I said, holding Chris's hand in mine.
"I agree." He said, jumping on top of me. "Chris! Oh dear." I said laughing.
Pyra slept in a different room now, thank god! I really hadn't wanted to woo-hoo. I sure hoped that there would be no baby this time!
"UGH! I hate my little brother! He is always waking me up! How's a girl supposed to get any sleep around here!" Pyra grumbled to herself. She had given up on sleep after being woken by her brother several times.
"Maybe painting will calm me down a bit." She sighed.
"YAWN. Boy am I sleepy. I'll just rest my eyes for a little..."
She fell asleep on top of the covers.
"Oh Kirgis, how am I supposed to tell Pyra that I may be pregnant again? She already is terribly sleep deprived, you keep her up all night." I asked Kirgis. "Gaaah." He said, and drooled on my shoulder.
I cleaned up the place while I was waiting for Pyra to awaken.
She NEVER put away her toys.
She slept into the day, lucky for her it was Saturday, or she'd be in big trouble! Chris caught his first perfect minnow! Only 12 more perfect fish to go until he has a full collection.
As I was polishing up my inventing skill, I felt the now familiar feeling of....
...the belly bump.
